At $279 it costs $100 more than the regular Acer Chromebook 11 that performs roughly the same (and on paper faster) than the R model. If you're not in need of a touch screen or tablet functionality, the regular model is a better deal.

It's also not as nice as the Asus Chromebook Flip, which was designed more as a 2-in-1 (vs. a laptop with 2-in1 functionality) that has better build quality and battery life and costs about the same.

All that said, it's still a good Chromebook. But others from Acer are a bit better.

Acer Aspire Switch 10 Convertible Laptop 2-in-1 - Full Review

Switch 10: 11: Alpha 12: is a review of the ultra-compact Acer Aspire Switch 10 convertible 2 in 1 laptop. The Switch 10 comes with either 32GB or 64GB internal hard drives along with 2GB of RAM. The size is very portable and as you’ll see later, it has a lot to offer if you’re a student or traveler.

The Switch 10 is great for a child’s first laptop or even a secondary laptop. The screen is 10.1 inches with 1366x768 pixels and features a 1080p front facing camera. The keyboard features a touchpad like you’d see on all current laptops and the keyboard has Chicklet style keys. It’s a little cramped because of the size but for small hands, it works great.

It is highly capable but I think it is better suited for a child’s first laptop or as a travel laptop. The keyboard is small but perfect for smaller hands. As a laptop, the whole unit feels solidly built and not flimsy. When in use, it sits firmly on a table and doesn’t move around. The best feature of the Switch 10 is the ability to remove the screen and use it as a tablet.

I feel this is truly a 2-in-one convertible laptop because it feels like a laptop when the keyboard is attached and it can stand alone as an excellent tablet. Detaching and reattaching the screen is extremely easy because all you have to do is lift it off and drop it back into place. There are no sliding latches to deal with like on some convertible laptops. At around $300, it’s priced very competitively with other laptops and standalone tablets.

One last thing, I noticed that the 32GB version comes with Microsoft Office Home and Student version that doesn’t require a subscription. So that was a nice bonus. The 64GB version comes with a one year subscription to Office 365. Overall I have been very happy with this purchase. The computer performs very well thanks to its i7 processor. It is still running with the 4th generation Intel hardware but it's still very fast for most non-gaming tasks like Word processing, spreadsheets, web browsing, email, etc.

My only complaint is with the display. It's very reflective and also a little cloudy.

Lisa Gade reviews a truly big screen Windows 10 convertible laptop, the Dell Inspiron 17 7778 with a 17.3” 1920 x 1080 full HD touch screen. Though not everyone might want a convertible this large, it has applications for multiplayer casual gaming, DJ, playing virtual music instruments, and watching movies and viewing/editing photos in a big screen fashion.

Despite the big footprint, this is a relatively slim and light 17” laptop that weighs 6.2 lbs. (2.77 kg) and is 0.89” (22.6mm) thick. It’s a light load compared to 17” notebooks from a few years back. The 2-in-1 is available with Intel Skylake 6th generation dual core 15 watt Core i5 and Core i7 CPUs, just like smaller Inspiron 7000 series models. It has NVIDIA 940MX 2GB DDR5 dedicated graphics. The Dell has 2 RAM slots for 8 to 16 gigs of DDR4 memory (you could upgrade to 32 gigs). It has both an M.2 SSD slot and a 2.5” drive bay. Pairing occurs when two Bluetooth devices communicate with each other and establish a connection. A record of information about this connection is then stored in the memory of each device. Once you pair a device with the mini Bluetooth speaker, you should not have to pair it again. The speaker can pair with up to six Bluetooth devices. However, it can only connect to, and play audio from one device at a time.

To pair with a Bluetooth device, follow these steps:

With the Bluetooth device and the Mini speaker both turned on, press Bluetooth on the speaker to make it discoverable. The Bluetooth indicator on the speaker blinks blue to show that it's discoverable

Set your Bluetooth device to "Discoverable." This will allow your device to discover the Mini speaker

Locate the Bluetooth device list in the user interface of your device. Select device name from the list

To connect to a previously paired device, follow these steps:

On the speaker, press Power to turn it on. The Bluetooth indicator flashes white

On your mobile device, turn Bluetooth ON if it is not already on. The speaker indicates pairing is complete when you hear an audible tone and the Bluetooth indicator remains solid white

As this tablet is a 16 GB, After windows only 4 -5 GB left for general use, so there is not enough space to install android inside this 16GB emmc. And you can't install this android on SD card because in order to work sd card we need to install SD card first and SD card is not a boot able media because of the design of the tablet. So if you using a 16 GB tablet technically you can't dual-boot, but you can dualboot using a bootable pen drive, Must use an USB 3.0 Pen-drive.

Touch screen is not working because there is no driver support for android.

Looking for some nice desktop speaker stands? 10/20/16: the ion block rocker is more expensive but it offers a powered usb port (useful in this situations - and is a nicer unit overall.

I love a good, loud, bluetooth speaker, so when I saw this bluetooth speaker from Monoprice, I had to check it out. Although I've been very happy with my big jambox, and use it a lot, sometimes its not quite enough.

So when you really need to kick it up a notch, or ten, I don't think theres a better alternative out there. (well except for maybe this one from ION that I found out about afterwards, although I haven't personally tried it: also doubles as a very good hip-hop (or any other type) karaoke machine.

23 Sept 2017 Update: I have finally started on the long awaited series of troubleshooting a computer or laptop that won't turn on, or it turns on with led lights and fans spinning but no display on monitor screen or not booting up into windows. It will be a series of 11 parts, with 10 specific points of failure which can be easily diagnosed as the part causing the computer to malfunction. In this video tutorial I will show you the diagnostics tests to do when a computer won’t turn on.

You should follow a logical troubleshooting eliminating process. It starts with verifying the wall socket plug is working correctly.

Next, check the power cord coming from the wall socket into the power supply. You can do this by either using a multimeter such as the following:

Buy from Amazon (Affiliate you can plug the power cord into another device to test.

For this video the last test is the power supply. This can be tested in two ways. Firstly grab a different known working power supply and install into the desktop and test for operation.

If you cannot find a different PSU, then disconnect the 20+4 pin and the 4 cpu pins from the motherboard as well as any other power cables. Use athin metal wire such as a paper clip and bend into a U shape.

With the power supply switched off and unplugged, insert one end of the pin metal into a green slot and the other end into any black slot. Do not touch the pin further, plug in the power cord into the PSU and turn the switch on, if the fan spins then the power supply is working.

Please note at this stage that this test will only confirm power coming into the PSU and not correct voltage; i.e the PSU may still be damaged and not properly power the desktop.

It will be a series of 11 parts, with 10 specific points of failure which can be easily diagnosed as the part causing the computer to malfunction.
