The Non-Upgradeable Tiny Dell Desktop PC

Back in 2008 Dell launched their studio hybrid range of mini desktop PC's. These were pretty cool to look at and could be customized to order by Dell externally in terms of the case, as well as internally. You just had to pay a bit more for the privilege and a fully customized studio hybrid with the best components would set you back $1000, as opposed to the $499 price tag on the basic starter model.

These things were ideal for basic home use but had the potential to quickly become obsolete as they weren't upgradeable after purchase and used laptop components meaning any demanding 3D applications such as games probably weren't very playable. But we're going to put it to the test anyway.

We've got our hands on a middle of the road model. It's slightly better than the starter system and not quite up there with the $1000 variant, so let's see what it can do.

System Specs:

Intel Pentium T3400 @ 2.16 GHz

2GB DDR2 SDRAM @ 667 MHz

320GB Hard Drive

Intel Mobile 965 Express Graphics

Windows 7

Games Tested:

Crysis

Doom 3

Half Life 2

Far Cry

Thanks for watching :)
