The way I see it, Caudabe really wants to keep your iPhone as slim as possible. Their Veil XT is a tiny case that’s as thick as a skin but unlike a skin, is removable. The Caudabe Sheath is one of my goto cases for suit wearing as it provides decent handling and the bare minimum protection for my iPhone. The Caudabe Synthesis is the biggest case out of the three and despite the smooth back, still handles well.
The biggest downside for Caudabe cases is the lack of protection the cases offer your iPhone. The Synthesis is the only case I’d be comfortable dropping an iPhone in but it isn’t officially drop-rated. Protection is 1/3 of the score in our rating system so these cases will be score lower so keep that in mind. With that being said, I’ve been very impressed with these cases that Caudabe sent me.
Out of these three cases, the Caudabe Sheath is the only case that makes it onto one of my Top 10 lists for the iPhone 7. Check out where it falls in my Top 10 ultra-thin minimalist case video. Also, if you’re wondering if you should get the Peel or Veil XT, make sure you check out the end of the video.

Amazon US: Amazon CA: Amazon UK: Amazon DE: Or get it on eBay: Case Comparison Tool: do the Caudabe Veil XT first. Right off the bat, this case isn’t going to offer your iPhone much protection. The case basically covers all the non-glass parts of your iPhone. I reviewed the Caudabe Veil for the iPhone 6 a couple of years ago and I can say that iPhone 7 Veil XT is much better. The biggest difference for me is the texture on the Veil XT. There’s enough of it that my iPhone doesn’t feel like it is going to come flying out of my hand. This isn’t the case for the Peel or the Spigen Air Skin.
The improved texture also hides scratching quite well as running my finger nail over the back of the Veil XT barely leaves a mark. This wasn't the case for the iPhone 6 version of the Veil.
Onto the Caudabe Sheath which is a thin TPU cover for your iPhone. This TPU case has a softer texture when compared to the Veil XT. I”m not sure what Caudabe did with the texture but I’m always in a toss up between thinking it is slick and not slick. This is why I say it is a great case for my suit wearing days because it handles well enough and can slide into a jacket pocket easily.
This TPU skin provides the bare minimum for protection as the edges are high enough to keep your iPhone off a flat surface. Even with a screen protector. The portion of the camera is raised so it minimizes the amount of contact your camera lenses when placed back first. Also, unlike the majority of other cases, the Sheath has cutouts for all the hardware features of the camera area, rather than a big cutout. All these little features is why the Caudabe Sheath is the #3 case on my Top 10 ultra-thin/minimalist iPhone 7 and 7 Plus list.
Onto the Caudabe Synthesis which is the biggest case of the group. It has the same soft feeling of the Sheath but doesn’t handle as well because the edges are larger. If you’re looking for a clear case that doesn’t explode in a blazing array of scratches and fingerprints, you definitely need to get the Sheath. The clear back has a matte finish to it which helps with scratches and fingerprints. It also provides extra texture for the iPhone.
The corners are thicker than the rest of the case which means it won’t slide around which is something I can’t say for the Incipio NGP, a similar case.
Access to the iPhone is great as the buttons are responsive, the port cutout can handle 3rd party cables and edges don’t get in the way of screen access.
So the biggest difference between the Peel and Veil XT? It has to deal with the texture of the case. I’ve touched on it earlier but from my perspective but the Veil XT has more texture which means your iPhone is going to slip out as often as the Peel. The Veil XT will wear better because of the extra texture. Both products are very thin and have the same general design. It's almost eerie how similar the product is.
